NIfTI
NIfTI (short for "Neuroimaging Informatics Technology Initiative") is a file format for storing medical imaging data, including data from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and positron emission tomography (PET) scans. It is a widely used format in the field of medical image analysis, and is supported by many software tools and libraries.
Raw data, derived data, and meta-data are all types of medical imaging data that can be stored in NIfTI files. They support various time periods and contrast patterns, and they can store data from several modalities. NIfTI files can also store extra data like picture orientation and transformation matrices because they are versatile and expandable in design.
The ANALYZE 7.5 file format, created by the Mayo Clinic in the 1990s, is the foundation for NIfTI files. The ANALYZE format was expanded upon in the early 2000s with the introduction of the NIfTI format, which has since taken over as the accepted format for storing medical imaging data.
NIfTI is a widely used file format in the field of medical image analysis, and is supported by many software tools and libraries. It is a flexible and extensible format that is well-suited to storing a variety of different types of medical imaging data.
